Hackatime setup

Hackatime counts your hours. Set it up before you start, not after.

Your hours come from Hackatime, a free tool made by Hack Club that tracks the time you spend coding. No Hackatime, no hours. No hours, no cookies.

Do this

  1. Follow the official guide: Hackatime docs. It has a page for each editor.
  2. Code for a few minutes in your editor.
  3. Look at your Hackatime dashboard and check that the time showed up.

Do step 3 now. Grandma has seen too many people build for days and then find an empty dashboard.

Tip

Hackatime is made and maintained by Hack Club, so its own docs are the place to look for setup and fixes. We link to them rather than copy them, because they change.

Note

After Grandma has handed over a result, you see how much Hackatime tracked and how many hours the reviewer approved, and so does everyone who opens your project page; if the reviewer approves less, the note says why.
